Diggers World is the official home of the archaeologist formerly known as Digger, Mike, Lukie, Port, Rasbutin, River, Popeye, Glenn, five times a night, Dad, Guru, Swimpy, Mum, Marje, Sandy, Durdle etc…

Whats it all about then?

Diggers World is a collection of images of Digger (he goes by another name to some of you) and friends as they undertake the tortures of life in the 21st Century.

What’s new (ish)?

  • Erh. Umh. Erh. Umh.  Nothing

  • Erh. Umh. Erh. Umm. Well, I’ve moved details of the “new” swim spots ie ones found over last few years, to the relevant pages country and county/area pages.

The main topics are:

Swim the Door:

Durdle Door is a sea arch near Lulworth, Dorset. Its one of those iconic landscape features and, even better, you can swim through it. The latter is known as Swim the Door (or its well known acronym STD). Some people do this once a year at a gathering in June. Some people do it more than once a year! Some people go abroad to do it although that’s technically STDA!!

Wild Swimming:

Want to know more about “Wild Swimming” (that’s rivers AND lakes, not naked swimming)? Now’s your chance with pages dedicated to “The Bare Necessities“, “New Swim Spots” , “Swimming with history” and, of course, the “Ultimate Wild Swimming Gazetteer” (divided into England, Wales, Scotland and the rest of the world).

Auto-timer top tips, Auto-timer awards (year by year) and of course “Everything you wanted to ask about self-photography (apparently known as selfies to some), but were afraid to ask”

The Important Things in Life:

A misc collection of things that are well, important to me and maybe even some others?Womble drinking (IMG_00681) A

Dance “tips”, Glenn Miller, Festivals, Mark “the priest”, Wombles etc

Annual Scottish (Easter) holidays (2019,  2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 & 2010). Plus one-off holidays to Argentina (2015), Chile (2015), Canaries (2012), Croatia (2017, 2018, 2016 & 2015), France (2018, 2016 & 2015), Spain (2013 & 2017), Hadrians Wall (2014),  Isle of Scilly (2012),  Lebanon (2009) and Syria (well timed visit in 2009 ahead of the civil war).  And the all important A-Z of all countries visited somehow by a coward of air transport.

Weekend Breaks:

Note 1We wish to stress that there is no sponsorship of this page, however, if anybody wants to send Streaky Strips, Twiglets, Wombles (especially the one that is battery powered and nods his head while singing the “Remember You’re A Womble”), or any Glenn Miller merchandise, thats up to them.

Note 2You will not see any flash graphics, or nudity (thank God), or even too much wit on this web site. If you have come to this site expecting these things PLEASE LEAVE NOW – it’s merely a collection of photos.
