Features
The whole area is exceptionally beautiful and there are plenty of less busy places to swim if you walk upstream away from the tourist bit.
Hazards
Apparently there have been attacks on tourists upsteam (only just read that!), which may explain why there are guards every so often along the path. Also its apparently “Dangerous not to Swim” (see below)

Misol-Ha
Location
Approximately 18km from Palenque and a 1.5km walk from the main road. You can even stay in some of the most beautiful wooden cabanas in Mexico according to my guide book. Now why didn’t I read that while I was there?

Hazards
The signs warns you not to go into the pool in your clothes or shoes because it is deep! So you have been warned.
