  • NH074/466

RS16- Scot splash 2

Features

  • Relatively easy access. Areas of deep water. Spectacular views

RS16- Scot splash 3

Hazards

  • None but the obvious. Unless you count that there was someone “wild camping” nearby oh, and, I think this part of the river is part of a Hydro scheme!

Loch Dughaill (nr Achnashellach)

Location

  • Approx 1km west of Achnashellach Station. The A890 runs adjacent to the Loch which is very handy. I picked a spot half way along where there was easy parking opposite

Grid Ref

  • NG995/475

Features

  • Easy access and parking. Gets deep pretty quick where I went in.

Hazards

  • You might be seen from the road (and when people who don’t know you park next to you when you are changing they do tend to look at you with a degree of suspicion)

River Carron (nr Achnashellach)

View from bridge. Photo by Katharine

Location

  • Approx. 5km east of Achnashellach Station and a short walk from the A890. You can park near the “authorised users only” level crossing or in the car park hidden in the woods on the opposite side of the road.

Grid Ref

  • NH048/493

Features

  • Easy access and viewing from adjacent bridge. Areas of fast and slow flowing water. A great find by Jim but I didn’t notice him come in the water!

Hazards

  • In wooded area so, in all seriousness, to keep you eyes open for floating logs! Also probably got a sheep tic when changing.
